Davie Jamieson

I’ve known Davie for many years now. We first crossed paths when I was looking for hardwood timber for my wood‑and‑epoxy furniture. It was only a brief meeting, but a couple of years later, when I started as a CDT instructor at the local high school, Davie joined the same department just a few weeks after me. It felt like a coincidence, but from that moment on we naturally shared our knowledge, and a collegial connection quickly grew into a genuine friendship.

Davie has supported me from the very beginning of my idea to create a freediving school in Shetland. When I once mentioned that we were running out of space for our dive gear, he didn’t hesitate for a second. “I’ve got an old shipping container,” he said. “You can have it if that helps.” I was speechless — and of course the answer was a very quick “Yes, perfect!”

Davie doesn’t just have an incredible eye for crafting beautiful pieces of wood; he has a huge heart, and I’m proud to say that Freedive Shetland – Atlantica is part of it too.

Davie Jamieson Design has sponsored us with a 20‑foot container for drying and storing our equipment, and he continues to help with technical advice whenever our own knowledge runs thin. Davie is open‑hearted, welcoming, and utterly reliable. He has been — and still is — my mentor in woodwork, and the grand master I turn to whenever I need guidance in the true Shetland dialect.
